The River Group’s Editorial Content Director Claire Irvin will tomorrow night (Thursday) host The Magazine Academy Awards 2016.

The aim of The Magazine Academy is to bring together the biggest names in the industry, with the best students on PPA-accredited courses. They celebrate bright new talent, and aim to help the magazine brand stars of the future by putting their work in front of the people who matter – future employers.

Irvin, who is 2016 Chair of the British Society of Magazine Editors, follows previous hosts including Lindsay Nicholson and David Hepworth.

‘I’m delighted to be hosting the awards this year and celebrating an influx of brilliant new recruits into the industry,’ she says. ‘In an ever-changing creative and commercial landscape the one constant is it’s need for fresh new talent dedicated – and I’m excited to meet all of this year’s nominees and see the ideas and work they have created.’

This year sees the launch of two additional awards categories: Outstanding Journalism for a Consumer Title and Outstanding Journalism for a Non-Consumer Title, which join Best Magazine Brand of the Year, Best New Concept and Best New Digital Only Concept.
