For those of you who are learning about Martin Black, River’s Senior Production Manager, for the first time, he recently had a terrible motorbike accident – and we could not wait to welcome him back. River spent a few minutes to see how his first week back went.
How has your first week been? So far it’s been good. You never quite know what you’re going to walk back into, but thankfully it was pretty mild. Just a few leaves wafting around on a warm breeze. I, of course, had to hit the ground running somewhat, but it was a quick stroll rather than a full-on sprint. 🍃
What comes first, the mouse or the keyboard? My typing is of the ‘one finger’ variety, so that’s not been compromised at all, and I’m still able to caress my mouse which brings happiness. 🐭
Have there been any changes in the department on who covers your tea round, or are you managing? I feel one should pull one’s weight. Tea is imperative, and I could never live with myself if I became an ‘I’ll drink it but I ain’t making it’ type of person. I’ll only give up my tea round when they prise it from my cold, dead fingers. ☕️
As River’s Style Icon, have there been any fashion alterations while you recover? Initially, there were, but thankfully I’ve got through the difficult early days. For a few days, I had to wear a vest (my wife’s idea as the big arm-holes make them relatively easy to put on). Can you believe this? Me? In a vest? I felt like Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances. I also couldn’t move my arm sufficiently to put socks on or tie shoelaces, but as I was housebound I could slob around in slippers. 👖
