Job scams are on the rise, and in 2020, job scams increased by 88% compared to 2019!
We have been made aware of a new scam by which a group of scammers have promised job seekers employment with The River Group, on the proviso that they send hundreds of pounds for ‘training courses and admin fees’.
This is bogus, and should not be engaged with. Employers always pay fees associated with recruitment or checks, not the employee.
It’s important to remain vigilant when applying for roles and make sure that everything stacks up.
Look out for the following:
- First names and vague contact details
- Poorly written job adverts
- Unrealistic salaries
- Being offered a job without an interview
- Being asked for money
