The Healthy For Men podcast has been nominated for two awards in just two days: the Best Branded Podcast in The Publisher Podcast Awards and the Best Innovative New Product/Service in the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards 2020.

The Healthy For Men podcast offers a creative spin on the traditional podcast format: each episode of the documentary-style ‘Podumentary’ series is a deep dive into urgent wellbeing topics, leaving no stone unturned. Healthy For Men editor Tom Rowley, host and co-producer of the series, speaks with some of the leading voices in the world of wellness, while the project maintains a passionate eye on mental health issues, not only offering practical advice about how to improve mental wellness but sharing emotive personal stories.

In the first episode, ‘What is anxiety?’, Healthy For Men explore the intricacies of common disorders, speaking to those who’ve overcome serious mental illnesses. Mental health campaigner Jonny Benjamin shares his story where a stranger talked Jonny out of taking his own life. A BBC documentary has since been made about the interaction.

The podcast guest list also includes the likes of SAS: Who Dares Wins host Jason Fox, Ex-commando and award-winning filmmaker Bruce Parry, Blue Peter Host and grooming expert Stuart Miles, and many leading experts from the fields of nutrition, fitness and mental health.

Tom Rowley says, ‘We started the Healthy For Men podumentary series to expand on what Holland & Barrett and the HFM brand are offering, and get on board with a growing digital medium that will help us send a positive message about physical wellbeing and mental health. It’s a project we’ve loved bringing to life, so it’s extremely exciting that it’s now up for another two industry nominations. It’s helped us demonstrate that River is a leader of content innovation.’

The Healthy For Men podcast was also nominated for The British Podcast Award in 2019.

The nomination comes as River launches its new podcast service to help brands connect with the growing number of podcast listeners – which was around 6m UK adults in 2018. As part of the launch, River has built a recording studio, fitted with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment.

The content marketing agency, based in Marble Arch, is also celebrating its 25th anniversary as it continues to produce industry-leading campaigns for 24 brands, including Holland & Barrett, Co-op, Superdrug and WW.
